Ok guys I've been in Aruba the last 8 days, that's the main reason why I haven't updated the site recently. Anyways, I've seen things that are quite different and beautiful there, so here's a break down of my trip.
First we went to TFG Airport in Providence to head to Charlotte NC, for a layover. That wen't fine, we boarded and started to head to Aruba, no longer than 30 mins into the flight the pilot comes on the radio saying that the plains radar system stopped working and we had to TURN AROUND back to Charlotte! Not to Florida, or some place that we don't have to turn around for. We had to wait another hour or so in the airport while they fixed the plains radar system. Now I know why American airline's in failing, What they did to compensate us for the delay and chaos they created was allow you to get a "free meal" coupon good for $5, Uh in airport food that means some crackers and soda... waiste of time to sit in wait inline for $5.
Once we landed in Aruba we went to th baggage claim area. There was a man who worked their making random animal sounds as the bags moved along the conveyor belt. This actually scared people and made them beleive that there could be an animal in a suitcase or something, It was pretty funny.
The next day there after resting and taking in some sun and turquoise blue waves on the white powder sand beach the resort was on, where we stayed at the manchebo resort.
Snorkeling off the coast is where we saw a couple shipwrecks from 1941 were a german ship went down after the crew were surronded by the netherland navy. The captian ordered the crew to open the bulkheads that aloow water into the ship. The ship split into 3 peices once the water hit the engine room. Very Eerie to see, just waste, death, & darkness in the ship.
About a half mile away from that wreck was another barge almost 800ft away from shhore, I asked our tour guide about the wreck, he told me it was "a figment of my imagination"
haha, I asked again and he took me aside an told me that the ship came from venezala in 1990 and was full of cocaine. The coast guard wouldn't let the barge go to port and arrested the crew, Apparently the hull was breached and sunk, along with over a couple tons of cocaine. Aruba has a huge drug trafficking problem because it's in an optimal place for transporting goods to all over the world.
Another day we went out to eat at a great place, Parked in the back lot were everyone parks. We finished eating and came out to see that the car one spot diagonal to us was completely torched! Gas cans and other flammable liquid containers were left at the scene so It's obvious that it was arson, apparently this person had an enemy. The car was a newer Mercedes, the rear tires were completely burnt off. Glass, water, oil, gas, and melted plastic and rubber were all over the place, we were surprised that our rental car hadn't suffered any melting or soot & ash on it, we lucked out.
Theres more, Like how their just ice system is fucked. You cant defend yourself in an attack or you will be jailed along with the attacker. There's no speed limits, no street sign names, and plenty of burnt / stripped cars on blocks in front of homes.
The wind always blows, every day, every hour, and it never changes direction, check out the Joshua tree below.
Here are some pics from the trip.
Funny to see our domestic beers on their imported list.
