Just upgraded my Macbook Pro to a Seagate Hybrid drive.

"Seagate Laptop SSHD leverages several gigabytes of NAND flash technology to deliver the performance benefits of solid state drives. SSHD is 4× faster than standard 7200 RPM hard drives*; they improve system-level performance by an average of 20%; and you'll get far faster bootups. Seagate Adaptive Memory technology is the secret to Laptop SSHD's stunning responsiveness. This software learns what data you use most then copies it to the drive's solid state memory where it can be accessed in an instant."

It really works, I've had it for about 2 weeks now and it is booting up faster, launch programs faster. It sped everything up really. I highly recommend picking one up .

  • 1 TB 5400 RPM 2.5" solid state hybrid drive
  • Utilizes Seagate flash management technology to deliver SSD-like performance
  • Integrates NAND flash with traditional hard drive storage
  • 9.5mm design for maximum capacity laptops
Update: Still going strong. I didn't notice any changes in battery life. The only thing that I did notice is that its faster than my buddies BRAND NEW MacBookPro. Haha you should have seen the look on his face. My older early 2009 MBP out performing his 2012 MBP muahaha. Seriously go Buy it here!

Have a MacBook Pro (MBP) thats too hot to handle? Seriously It gets hot.

I have an early 2009 MBP with a 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I noticed it got pretty hot and I never really heard the fans spool up. I remember seeing the temps as high as 170*-180* (f) which is pretty hot!

After looking online for an aftermarket fan or a laptop cooler I found this awesome program!
"SMCFanContol" Which... as you might have guessed controls fan speed, but still allows factory apple coding to raise the fan rpms in ration to processing loads. With one click you can return to stock setting if your a weirdo whos's afraid to mess with stuff. Now I got my fans at a base of 3500RPMS instead of 2000RPMS and raise as high as 4500RPMS under full load. Keeps the temps below 150* (f) at increased loads and normally around 100*-120* (f) for moderate loads.
So Heres a link! Hope you download it. Share your settings in the comments for others, or let me know if this review helped you.

Oh and If you need a Macbook Pro..
